Milestones for RUDNET

RUDNET achieved the following milestones over the past two years:-

  • Farm Health Awards programme – grew from 16 participating farms in 2003 to 36 in 2004, and currently 55. A farm worker, Delilah Cupido was honoured with the “Farm worker of the Year Award” twice for her positive contribution to the upliftment of her farm community. The 2005 “Farm Worker of the Year Award” went to Floris Slingers.
  • Service Level Agreements were entered into with two service providers from the RUDNET network, (Resource Development Foundation (RDF)) for Strategy 1; and Vineyard Academy for Strategy 2) for the implementation and management of certain strategies.
  • Formation of RUDNET branches in the Overberg-area (Robertson), West Coast (Vredendal) and Northern Cape (Upington) is underway and will be launched soon.
  • Acknowledgement of RUDNET’s participation in the Wine Charter Steering Committee (WCSC) which aims for the development and establishment of a Wine Charter and Score Card that will facilitate and guide to transformation of the Wine Industry to ensure equitable access and representation of black people in the wine industry.
  • Participation and guidance in the Social Development Task Team of the WCSC where its assessment systems served as guidelines for the development of the “Residual Section” of the envisaged Wine Charter and Score Card.
  • Recognition of RUDNET as a Strategic Partner of SAWIT (S.A. Wine Trust) for the implementation and co-ordination of social upliftment programmes of farm working communities in the Wine Industry.
